I finished all the squares as of this morning. I washed the 11 that were done last night, and I stretched and shaped them onto this piece of cardboard. Then I spent at least half an hour pinning them down into the shapes and places they need to be. It was a lot of work, but I could not be happier about this blanket! The edges are straight, the seams are lined up, and now I just have to sew them that way.
My fiance's mom is the one who told me about this technique of blocking. I am so glad she did, too. I didn't get my squares blocked correctly on my first afghan, so my seams are crooked. It drives me crazy, but I didn't really know what I was doing then, either.

Isn't just gorgeous?
It is perfect! Now, get that border on and get paid! Sorry, did that sound crass? I just know you have been working hard and you deserve the final payoff!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how much I love this blanket, but I do - so much! The pattern ... the colors ... the stitches ... everything! Great work.
ReplyDeleteThe blanket is gorgeous! You did a wonderful job!

I agree it is gorgeous! I love the variety of stitches and colors. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI found a book at the library called 200 knitted blocks or something like that, and it gives you a bunch of different block designs and shows some unique ways of putting them together and talks about how to choose colors and stuff.
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job on this one! Just think what you could do with 200 more block designs! :)
